Lucknow, October 16: In today’s era of globalization, there are immense opportunities for a bright future for the younger generation. Therefore, it is essential that students are provided with purposeful and skill-based education that equips them with a global perspective, paving the way for their success on the world stage. These were the thoughts of Prof. Geeta Gandhi Kingdon, Manager of City Montessori School (CMS), who was addressing the forum as a speaker at the India Global Alliance Forum held today in New Delhi. The forum was organized by the College Board, USA, at Hotel Lalit, New Delhi, and saw the participation of renowned educators from India and abroad.
Speaking on the topic “Expanding Access to Rigour – A Student-First Approach,” Prof. Kingdon said that City Montessori School is continuously working towards nurturing a global outlook in its students and encouraging their talents. To fulfill the dreams of students aspiring for higher education in prestigious global institutions, CMS, after receiving approval from the College Board, has established SAT and Advanced Placement (AP) test centers. Through these centers, a significant number of students are selected for higher education in the world’s best universities every year, often with scholarships. Along with Prof. Kingdon, other notable speakers at the conference included Miguel Costa from Spain; John Wilkerson, Associate Vice President for International Services at Indiana University, USA, and Dr. Snehal Pinto, Director of Ryan Group of Institutions.
Under the India Global Alliance Forum, prominent educators from South and Central Asia, including India, engaged in serious discussions on the possibilities for a bright future for the next generation on an international platform, focusing on better preparing students for college-level higher education after school. At this forum, various topics like Higher Education Landscape – empowering smooth transition from high school, Evolving Role of Assessments in Admissions, Globalization and Diversity, Socioeconomic Status – The final diversity frontier, Mock Admissions through Case Studies, Increased Emphasis on Employability, Best Practices in Recruitment and Reforming Secondary School Curricula and Assessments, were discussed in detail. Additionally, challenges and motivational factors for teachers in preparing students for the future were also deliberated.
