Lucknow, 3 August : Through their meaningful talks delivered on the second day of the 3-day ‘International Interfaith Conference’ being held at CMS Kanpur Road auditorium, the thinkers, philosophers, religious leaders, educationists and jurists arrived from various countries conveyed the message that religion inspires us to live in unity and peace. All religions of the world aim to spread unity and love among human beings. The presence of the followers of different faiths at one platform in the Interfaith Conference spread the unique message of harmony among all religions. It is noteworthy that scholars from Egypt, USA, Lebanon and various states of India are participating in this International Conference organised by CMS Ashrafabad Campus.
The second day of the conference began today with the school prayer and the All Religions Prayer. On this occasion, CMS Manager Prof. Geeta Gandhi Kingdon honoured the scholars and religious leaders from India and abroad by presenting them with shawls and mementos. In her speech delivered on the occasion, Prof. Kingdon said that this conference is being organised with the inspiration of CMS Founder Late Dr. Jagdish Gandhi, who had deep faith in the spirit of harmony among all religions. He believed that religion inspires us to be free from prejudices. Convener of the International Interfaith Conference and Principal of CMS Ashrafabad Campus, Mrs Trapti Dwivedi said that this conference is aimed at promoting unity, peace and harmony in society and establishing an atmosphere of harmony by promoting dialogue between different religions of the world.
The deliberations on the second day began with a panel discussion on the topic ‘Importance of Interfaith Dialogue’. Speaking on the occasion, Justice Dr. Adel Omar Sharif, Deputy Chief Justice, Supreme Constitutional Court of Egypt, said that the conference shows humanity the right path by eradicating religious ignorance. Dr David Risley, scholar, USA, said that all religions lead us towards the same God. Unity of all human beings is the eternal truth of all religions. Dr Sally Hammoud, scholar from Lebanon said that the conflict between Israel and Palestine serves as a stark illustration of religious animosity. She added that religion fosters social awareness and, rather than dividing people, has the potential to unite them. Similarly, many eminent personalities from India and abroad presented their meaningful views on various topics such as ‘Religion and Peace’, ‘Role of religious institutions in promoting social and economic development’, ‘The empowerment of youth to be agents who promote religious harmony,’ etc. and provided insights into the multiple dimensions of the religion.
